Toxic Load and Your Fertility

Your body is the most amazing and complex machine and at its core, was designed to thrive and be vibrantly healthy. High fertility is an expression of a healthy and a well-functioning body, but like any other machine, your body’s functions can be compromised. Suffering from a high toxic load can inhibit your body’s innate fertility potential and may make conception more difficult.

Bodies are built with their own detoxification systems and are able to regulate a great deal of toxins on their own. However, your body has the potential to be overwhelmed with its toxic load, which may result in poor health outcomes.

Your body is intelligent

We all have natural detoxifications systems within our body.

Think of your detoxification centers as a big bucket with a hole in the bottom. The bucket has a constant stream of water (toxins) flowing into it, but if the balance of water flowing out of the hole in the bottom and the water into the bucket stay in check, your bucket won’t overflow and you can go throughout your day without sloshing water everywhere. If you are having more water (again, toxins) coming in than going out, you get yourself into a situation of imbalance, or dis-ease. We’re going to be honest with you, a great many of us have overflowing buckets.

A high toxic load makes it difficult for your entire body to function properly…

A high toxic load makes it difficult for your entire body to function properly, this can be expressed as digestive issues (constipation, diarrhea, bloating, etc.), sinus problems, allergies, asthma, rashes, food intolerance, and even reduced fertility. Luckily, many of the things you do to keep your body healthy, also supports you detoxification systems:

  • Drinking plenty of (filtered) water

  • Choosing organic foods

  • Exercising regularly

  • Keeping your environment clean and clear of harsh chemicals and other toxic substances

We could go into some serious detail about how your body can be overloaded and all the places and objects that can be causing you exposure, but we suggest that if you are new to managing your toxic load, start with the lowest hanging fruit method.

This method encourages people to focus on the most obvious thing to change and tackle that first. This will be different for everyone; what is it that causes you the most exposure? Do you clean your entire house with bleach, wear lots and lots of perfume, or only eat processed or packaged foods? Pick one thing and change it.

This may mean instead of drinking a soda every day, you drink one every other day and then eventually phase it out completely. It may not seem like much in the moment, but will have a significant impact on your body and health over time.

Not all health changes nee be drastic, but they do need to be consistent.
